Internship
Year: 2022

The World Uyghur Congress (WUC) is an international organization that represents the collective interest of the Uyghur people both in East Turkistan (Ch: Xinjiang) and abroad. It is a human rights organization that carries out advocacy at the UN and EU levels to advance the rights of the Uyghur people.

My role there was as a Digital Communications Assistant.
I managed and produced content for the website and social media (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter), coordinated media relations—including interviews with a survivor for ABC, EFE, and Latin American media outlets—and served as the media liaison.

I organized the offline communications strategy for a demonstration in Geneva in front of the UN, which included press coverage and meetings with officials. I led digital communications and logistics during the NGO’s annual summit in Munich.

I wrote weekly and monthly newsletters and produced photo and video reports on campaigns and events. I participated in coalition meetings against Uyghur forced labor and covered press conferences and advocacy activities in Brussels on social media.
